About Secret Hitler

Secret Hitler is a social-deduction game by Mike Boxleiter, Tommy Maranges, and Mac Schubert. Set in 1930s Germany, it divides 5–10 players into a larger liberal team and a hidden fascist team. The liberals have the votes to steer elections if they can work out whom to trust; the fascists know one another and try to turn uncertainty to their advantage.

Each government puts policy cards before the table, so players must read both the cards and the people who chose them. The official site describes the game as a contest to find and stop Hitler and a fascist takeover. How to play in one minute

  1. Give every player a secret party and role card, then identify the current presidential candidate.
  2. The president nominates a chancellor and the table votes on the proposed government.
  3. If elected, the president and chancellor enact one policy from the cards they receive and explain their choices.
  4. Liberal policies move the liberal side toward victory; fascist policies unlock stronger presidential powers.
  5. The liberals win by completing their policy track or stopping Hitler; the fascists win by completing theirs or electing Hitler as chancellor at the right point in the game.
